Dutch Inclusion of Children in its Corona Virus Response

Several University of Leiden professors recently published a report addressing how children and young people in the Netherlands experience the coronavirus and what they would advise Dutch policymakers as to their pandemic response. “The research into the experiences with the corona measures among almost 280 children and young people shows that the Dutch corona policy is at odds with international children’s rights. For example, there are concerns about vulnerable groups of children for whom the impact of the corona measures appears to be greater than for other children. Children and young people also indicate that they do not feel heard by the Dutch government. The corona policy is about them, but is not developed with them.”
